ABSTRACT
This article discusses social media and the role it plays in transforming governments and nations. First, the influential power of social media is addressed. Next, the article indicates that social media can serve as an enabler of better governments and as an enabling tool for democracy. It also addresses the limitations, unintended consequences, and ethical implications in the use of social media. Finally, the article offers conclusions as well as recommendations for future research.
