ABSTRACT
Individuals may require assistance with activities of daily living as they age. Assisted
living facilities provide individuals with many of the long-term care services they need while still
offering some privacy and autonomy. The level of care provided by assisted living facilities may
include housing and housekeeping, personal care, and medical services. Many facilities offer
special programs for individuals with chronic medical conditions.
Unfortunately, all health care facilities experience employee turnover. In general,
employee turnover is a critical problem in the healthcare industry, and it negatively impacts
profits in all organizations and replacement costs, such as training, onboarding, and developing
new healthcare employees. This study reviews and analyzes assisted living facilities, what they
provide, and their benefits. This study also reviews employee turnover and the factors that may
reduce employee turnover. Finally, the authors of this study provide suggestions and recommend
retention strategies for leaders in assisted living facilities.
