ABSTRACT

The present study examines the perceptions of young Major League Baseball (MLB) fans.
The analysis specifically focuses on ascertaining why fewer younger consumers are watching MLB
games. Potential explanations arise in the areas of the actual game of baseball, the sports
upbringing of younger consumers, and the vast array of viewing options for MLB games. Based on
the direct responses from young fans, specific implications and recommendations are provided for
MLB executives.
