ABSTRACT
O*NET is a job description database that provides a taxonomy of major job characteristics. This paper uniquely uses the taxonomy in the analysis of employee location monitoring reliability problems. Employee location monitoring is becoming a more significant reliability issue because the employment status can be negatively affected if errors occur in the analysis of employee locations. Some reliability problems include technicians who have inadequate skills, experience, education, values, and interests to effectively increase location monitoring system reliability. Some other major problems include insufficient organizational commitment to enhancing reliability and inaccurate location monitoring equipment such as Global Positioning Systems, Radio Frequency Identification Tags, and cameras. The taxonomy can help company managers develop and implement location monitoring with more fairness and accuracy.
