The study reviewed the economic status of Zimbabwe over the past seven years and
in the process argued that investment flows into Southern Africa are going to be limited to a
trickle as most of the region’s economic policies are relatively similar to those of Zimbabwe.
This study looked at each sector’s performance domestically and selectively reviewed the
activities in other Southern African economies over the same period. It is argued that South
Africa has a key role to play in the economies of Southern Africa going forward and as such
she has a key role of keeping her economic and trade polices untainted if Southern Africa is to
benefit from her economic leadership.
