ABSTRACT
This research study focuses on the identification of leadership styles practiced by leaders
and evaluates the success of leaders, but from the points of view of both the leaders and followers.
Data analysis was performed by using NVivo software, a thematic coding tool with qualitative
analysis for organizing unstructured data. Utilizing a focus group of leaders and followers, the
results revealed that neither group could easily identify recognized styles. Leaders believed that
best practices defined their styles. On the other hand, followers prefer described dimensions
(practice or traits) that their leader could possess. Six prevalent themes were discovered: growth,
leadership traits, leading by example, encouragement, collaboration, and competence.
